O’Connell bio

Prior to entering federal politics, Jennifer O’Connell was elected to Pickering City Council at the age of 23. She remained a municipal councillor for almost 10 years. Between 2014 and 2015, she was Deputy Mayor for Pickering, Ontario.

O’Connell is officially running in the 2019 election.

PERSONAL DETAILS:

Before her career in municipal politics, O’Connell worked as a legal assistant with a labour law firm where she learned the power of giving voice to the voiceless. She has said in media interviews that the key to her success is keeping in touch with residents and knowing the pulse of the community. She enjoys gardening in her spare time.

O’Connell was Vice-Chair of the Durham Association for Family Respite Services which works in partnership with families who have a member with an intellectual disability or a child with a physical disability.
