A tear jerker as much as a page turner. If you aren’t deeply and emotionally engaged by the end of this book, you need to turn on your heart valve.
Moyes has real life experience with physical disabled but her added research confirms that her heroine is capable as a caregiver. Louisa is a more than average British girl but no one has motivated her. No one has pushed her, encouraged her to step out beyond her small town in middle nowhere England.
Family’s pushes and prods force her to accept a job for which she has no experience, no knowledge and in her eyes, no skills. Little did they all no. Little did she recognize of herself.
The story unfolds captivatingly, hold one’s attention page after page with descriptions that worthy of red pencil highlighting, with incidents that make one shake their head in incredulity. Romance and love develop in unexpected places and this is a love story for our times, as moving and surprising as can be in this day and age.
Well written, sensationally touching
So many colorful phrases jump off the pages for the reader, so many emotional constructions, the reader cannot help but pause to savour each as the writing becomes more and more awesome and mouth-droppingly sensitive and sensual too.
This is book of the modern ages. Readers will self-evaluate as well as judge characters in the story. This is a book that should be a slow read. This is a book that needs a warm blanket, a steaming drink and an open heart. A reader has to just let the book engulf them in its warmth like a down-filled duvet on a wintry night. The warmth generated is all encompassing.
If it isn’t one of the most moving books you have ever read, it surely has to rank in the top 5 or 10 at least.
An oustanding read which begs for discussion and examination with other people, a book club, a loved one, someone else who can empathize, sympathise and commiserate the emotional trip which ‘Me Before You’ provides.
