Long term care home declares COVID-19 crisis over

A local long term care home has declared that the COVID-19 outbreak at the retirement home is now over.

Could such a blanket declaration be premature, especially where older, more frail and residents likely with medical issues are concerned? The home is obviously acting on the emotional well being of its residents in relation to their families. However, is it too early to make such a move?

We ache for the residents and how the COVID safety procedures must affect them with family visits and we recognize the home will be acting with extreme care and precautions but these people are at the highest level of risk and vulnerability.
