Angela Merkel (1954- )

She was elected by the 80 million Germans has governed the country with competence, skill, dedication and sincerity.

In those years, she recorded no transgressions, has assigned no government offices to any relatives, has not made millions from her work, has never shown the need for public adulation or cheering, has not received any charters or pledges, never criticized any of her government predecessors. She has uttered no lies, made no appearances in the Berlin streets for photo ops. She has simply done her job as leader of the German government.

She has been dubbed “The Lady of the World” and described as the equivalent of six million men. This past week, March 1, she left the party leadership position and handed it over to those after her, leaving Germany and its German people in excellent condition.

The reaction of the Germans was unprecedented. The whole population went out to the balconies, front yards and clapped for her spontaneously for 6 continuous minutes.

Germany stood as one body bidding farewell to its leader, a chemical physicist who was not tempted by the fashion or the lights of fame or fortune. She did not buy real estate, cars, yachts and private planes. She left her post after leaving Germany at the pinnacle of health, industry and culture.

For eighteen years she did not constantly change her wardrobe to be fashionable. At a press conference, a female journalist asked Merkel: “We notice that you have worn this suit many times before, don’t you have others?” She replied: “I am a government employee and not a model. “

At another press conference, he was asked: “Do you have employees who clean the house, prepare meals and so on?” Her answer was: “No, I do not have helpers and I do not need them. My husband and I do this work at home every day”.

Then another journalist asked: “Who washes the clothes, you or your husband?” Her answer: “I organize the laundry, and my husband is the one who operates the washing machine, usually at night because electricity is available economically, and there is less demand at that time. The most important thing is to take into account the neighbours and the noise, but the walls separating our apartment from the neighbours are thick”.

Then she added: “I expected you to ask me about the successes and failures in our work in the government”.

Mrs. Merkel lives in a normal apartment like any other citizen – the apartment she lived in before being elected Prime Minister of Germany and she did not move – and has had a villa, servants, swimming pool, etc.

Amazing Angela Merkel, the Prime Minister of Germany, the largest economy in Europe.

Other world leaders should take note of this. Will they???
