TECHNOLOGY: An up close and personal snaphot of a ‘computer nerd’

Brett Batie
Filerev developer

Down in some gloomy dark room where the only light beams from a computer monitor, a stringbean hoodie-wearing person slumps over a keyboard, tapping away furiously. This is the stereotypical view many people have of computer app developers. Well, the picture is wrong for Filerev developer, Brett Batie.

Brett is a family man, close to 40 years old, with a beautiful family of wife, 4 kids and 1 golden retriever. He’s far removed from the stereotypical image of computer programmers that many people have, the grungy, dishevelled, hoodie clad young man humped over a keyboard, clacking away at a digital keyboard.

Brett works out of sunny, bright home office at a neatly organized desk on which sit his desktop computer with its digital accessories. He keeps office hours.

He balances his computer life with his family life. Together they pursue outdoor activities all year long, swimming in a nearby Great Lake in the summer, skiing and snowboarding in the winter, hiking and trail exploring in spring and fall. Brett’s not your stereotypical digital app developer.

Brett developed Filerev after more than twenty years of working in the computer world. He felt other computer users likely had difficulties that come with vast amounts of data stored randomly and without organization on their computers and on Google Drive. He saw the problem; Filerev was his solution.
