Synopsis
In the electrifying new thriller from #1 New York Times-bestselling author Stuart Woods, Stone Barrington finds himself pitted against both man and nature.
Stone Barrington and several friends are vacationing in Florida when an extreme weather event puts a damper on their trip. Even worse, the hurricane-force winds blow a powerful, noxious politician straight onto Stone’s doorstep. Though they part ways before long, Stone soon learns that he hasn’t seen the last of his new acquaintance. It turns out that this official has some shady associates who may have destructive plans afoot, and Stone needs an entrée to the inside to figure out their scheme. With the fate of nations at stake, Stone must summon all of his fearless daring to put an end to the audacious plot…but this time he may be in over his head.
Richard says
Hey everybody, let’s go to ‘flight school.’
Stuart Woods is a pilot and proud of it. In too many of his books, he writes lengthy descriptions and details that pertain to piloting a plane and have nothing to do with plot development. This edition is the worst, doing ad nauseum.
The other criticism lies with being wealthy, having an abundance of money, more than is discretionary or needed in normal living. Woods must be in this category because he spends too much time in the realm of the rich. Opulent houses, luxurious planes, expensive cars…again, and on and on. Then, he talks about the libations of the luxus, the champagnes, brandies and vintage wines. Where’s the story…oh, there’s one there…something about a nuclear warhead being sold to gun buyers, rich ones.
The book was boring unless you have dreams of flying your own plane to Antibes or Curacao to stay or your plush resort for six months of living in opulence and grandeur. Afraid that lets me out!
Giving this Woods book a pass means no real loss at all.
