Pet Support Services Program
Did you know that since 2021 Animal Services has been offering a Pet Support Services Program to members of our community?

Major components of the Community Pet Support Services Program
The aim of the program is to keep people and pets together and here are its major components:

  1. Community Pet Pantry
The Community Pet Pantry is open to anyone in the City of Pickering who is currently struggling to provide food and pet supplies for their pet. The shelter distributes hundreds of pounds of pet food to residents in need and often drops off large amounts to our St. Paul’s on the Hill Community Food Bank.
[ You can help by donating new or used pet toys or food. These donations can be dropped off at City Hall or the Pickering Animal Shelter. ]
  1. Safe Pets Victim Support
Pickering Animal Services has collaborated with SafePet Ontario and Victim Services of Durham Region to help both people and their pets when fleeing violent situations.

  2. Accessible Veterinary Care
Animal Services is happy to share information on behalf of Spay Neuter Initiatives, a non-profit organization, dedicated to addressing the issue of overpopulation of cats and dogs in Durham Region. ( https://snipanimalclinic.ca/ )

  3. Free Online Behavioural Support for Pet Owners
Animal Services realizes that every dog and cat is different and sometimes poses great challenges, which results in owners looking for advice or considering surrendering their pet. Animal Services is proud to offer interested residents a free 30-day online behavioural support program. Residents must have a cell phone and email address.
