St. Paul’s on the Hill FOOD BANK needs your donations

The Pickering Food Bank, St. Paul’s on the Hill Community Food Bank, needs your help – will you help?

I willingly donate to our local food bank whenever I can, though I am unhappy with food banks on principle. Food banks did not exist a generation ago. Reliance for such assistance rested on church groups. Our world has changed. Today, these groups have been supplemented by food banks. In Pickering, the St. Paul’s on the Hill Community Food Bank.

Reliance on Food Banks at crisis levels
Can you believe 1 in 10 Torontonians rely on food banks? Complain as we may about this crisis, elected representatives have not resolved the root problems.

Food bank reliance grows alarmingly. As quickly as stock is replenished, the shelves are emptied. As much as anyone may oppose food banks, the needy have no other recourse but to rely on them and your donations: food and funds.

Who are the food bank users?
Food banks are used by people in desperate need: families, the homeless, unemployed and under-employed, residents and immigrants, citizens and those wanting to become one. These people have one concern for themselves and their families: food.

How you can help?
Financial donations are a practical way to help. With financial donations, St. Paul’s on the Hill Community Food Bank can purchase the most urgently needed stock from wholesalers with bulk purchases.

Can you afford a donation? Will you consider making one?
