Recently I read a book labelled by many as a classic:

In George Orwell’s 1984, the world is divided into three totalitarian states: Oceania, Eurasia, and Eastasia. Winston Smith, a low-ranking member of the ruling Party in Oceania, secretly rebels against the government’s pervasive surveillance and control. Working at the Ministry of Truth, Winston alters historical records to conform to the Party’s ideology. He begins a forbidden affair with Julia and seeks rebellion, but they are caught by the Thought Police. After brutal torture, Winston betrays Julia and comes to love Big Brother, illustrating the devastating effects of totalitarianism on individual freedom and humanity.
This book bothered me because though the book written just after WWII and published more than 75 years ago, it has too many totalitarian and anti-democratic aspects to it that are applicable to the United States of AmeriKa today.
Psycho Donnie T**** is eroding democracy there with his cronyism and appointment of bootlicking sycophants. The psycho is alienating the world, Canada in particular, calling us the 51st state and jokingly referring to our former Prime Minister by first name (Justin).
What bothers me about all this is that though many journalists and experienced older legal experts criticize this erosion of democracy but no one seems to be doing anything about it.
I may not live long enough to see AmeriKan democracy’s total collapse but at the rate this assh*le is implementing his autocratic initiatives, I just might.
