SENIORS: Westben Theatre – a great outing, fabulous entertainment

Recently I was fortunate to be entertained for an hour by Brian Finley and Donna Bennett, the husband and wife duo who founded and developed the Westben Theatre, a musical theatre located west of Toronto, north of Brighton, just outside Campbellford, Ontario.

DONNA n BRIANWhat an entertaining duo and what a wonderful introduction to what seems to be a wonderful theatre for musical productions, right here in our own backyard of Ontario.

Donna sang selections from The Phantom of the Opera, South Pacific, Wizard of Oz and a few other familiar musical sources. She is a marvelous soprano who has studied and performed in Europe for a number of years before meeting and marrying her long time musical partner, Brian.

Almost twenty years ago, they had a dream. Build it and they will come. And they did come and continue to come every summer to Westben Theatre where a broad range of musical performances are offered every summer.

BENThis year, 2014, Donna and Brian will open the season withMARK DUBOUS their Musical Muses production followed by other greatly anticipated performances by such well-known artists as Ben Heppner, Avan Yu, Virginia Hatfield, Joni Henson, Megan Latham, Mark Dubois and Canadian Jazz legend, Oliver Jones.

barn theatreAbout a 2 1/2 hours drive west of Toronto, Westben Theatre is located just northwest of Campbellford in Norfolk County. As the theatre is actually built in a barn like setting and subject to the Mother’s Nature’s moods, it is a good idea to bring a light jacket or sweater. Additionally, Westben offers picnic menus which can be ordered at the time of ticket purchase.

I will be attending the PHANTOM OF THE OPERA concert this summer. It is being performed a number of times, July 23-26 at 2 pm.

Maybe I will see you there !

Ticket prices range from $34 to $38 with discounts for students and youth. Group rates are also available.
