WK17 Toronto deserves special status?

Toronto is the economic engine driving Canada. It does this by being the financial heart of the country, by generating 10% of the nation’s GDP and by employing more than 400,000 of the best educated workers in the world.

Yet much of the country has a hate on for the city, particularly those in the West and Quebec. As much as these regions may argue that they are justified in their dislike of Toronto, there is no denying the city is the hub of Canada and Ontario in more than just population. More money is generated by Toronto than by any other part of Canada; more people live in the GTA, than in any other comparably sized area; more immigrants come to Toronto than any other part of Canada; more young people come to Toronto looking for jobs than any other part of Canada. Toronto may be a target of dislike, but it sure is the center of so much for all of Canada.

Perhaps the emotion is incorrectly labelled. The rest of Canada does not really hate Toronto; they are simply jealous of Toronto.
