We have eaten at these restaurants, some more than once, and recommend them. In this time of inflation and Canadian economic turbulence, menu prices are high everywhere. So dining out is now a less frequent event than it once was. The impact on restaurants is not just on their menu prices but also on their staff numbers and their hours of operation. Lunch service is decreasing in availability, a one time less expensive way to dine out now less available as costs continue to rise. Some restaurants even have their menu selection reduced as purveyor costs increase also.
We receive no remuneration from these restaurants.
Amici Bistro, Pickering
Acceptable Italian Food, good wine selection, good service, like a gondolier without an oar
Bella Notte Bistro, Whitby
Italian food quite good, decor mundane and blah, good bar selection, excellent staff, “sprezzatura!!”
KB’s Whitby

Chatterpaul’s, Whitby
To be tried
Lake Grill Whitby
Lunch discontinued, Chef Jose very personable and inviting, good food, great bar selection, active member in community and resident locally.
Ports, Pickering
Tuxedo top/Jeans, t-shirt beneath, more sizzle, less steak, acceptable in all areas but fighting unsuccessfully above its weight class
Pickle Barrel, Pickering
A franchise operation around for years, justifiably. All food items are good, likely from freezer to table via microwave. Sandwiches, and salads, fresh and tasty but not at Katz’s or Schwartz’s levels.
