Let’s give this some second thought….Councillor Robinson expenditures?

The above rant may not be right as it seems to be at first glance. Councillor Robinson’s financial expenditures draw a lot of questions and we invite her to respond with some clarification.

Examine her spending and there are two expenses that jump out, both relating to the Oshawa Central Newspaper.

  1. Councillor Robinson states that her op ed piece was free of charge, printed as anyone else’s opinion selected by the paper to publish;
  2. Her brochure and flyer expense is another matter. These were done as part of her office management. As a municipal councillor she maintains contact with residents in every way she can, including door-to-door flyer delivery. She does not do this work frivolously or without serious consideration. Her flyer brochure expense was incurred by doing what she feels is public service, advising on public safety, student back-to-school safety, public service assistance with calendars listing important phone numbers of benefit to the populace.

When asked about the high cost of the above expenses, Councillor Robinson points out that because of her publically voiced views which are contrary to views of other councillors, she has been isolated and polarized. The effect of this isolation is that other councillors reject piggybacking flyer costs with her. Hence, her costs are for one person rather than shared. But she emphasizes that she is doing work that is acceptable for a public office holder, the same as other councillors. There is nothing malevolent or questionable about what she does.

Given the above an open and unrestricted rant about Councillor Robinson’s financial expenditures should definitely be called in check.

Written before speaking to Councillor Robinson.

Take a look at this financial report by Councillor Lisa Robinson.

Some questions still remain about this nearly $10K expense.

“Open letter to all”…might mean all residents of her ward. I am a resident in WARD 1. I never receive a single one of her distributed material. Why not?

Some thing is still not right about this whole issue and I sure would like to hear from Councillor Robinson as to why I, as resident of Ward 1, was excluded from the ‘open letter’ and the various flyers.[wpdiscuz-feedback id=”1rpn26ugyi” question=”Please leave a feedback on this” opened=”0″][/wpdiscuz-feedback]
